Birthday Meet 2012
A very enjoyable long Jubilee weekend, we had an extremely varied program of events. The children were well catered for with many activities planned on a site with an excellent playground. The rally opened on Thursday afternoon, but most units didn't arrive until Friday. On Friday evening we joined the villagers for Bingo in the hall. Saturday afternoon we had our fair which included a tombola, spinning jenny, guess the weight of cake, face painting and much more. In the evening we were entertained by Ed and his band, a mixture of Greek and popular music, this was very well received, a ploughman’s tea divided the evening and was followed by the band again with many getting up to dance the night away. Sunday dawned very wet and windy, which meant we held the big jubilee lunch in the hall instead of outside as originally planned, but everyone came and ate their lunch together despite the weather, tea and cakes were provided by the committee. Oh, and the children had a treasure hunt. After lunch many campers stayed in the hall to tackle the jigsaws laid out on the side of the hall. The evening started with Bingo followed by line dancing, all good fun. Monday started off with Robert's bacon baps for breakfast. Cream teas in the afternoon with cheese and wine complete with quiz in evening to finish off. The traditional 'end of rally' coffee morning came as usual on Tuesday with prize giving and a raffle. And the cutting of the Birthday cake ended an especially enjoyable, memorable weekend.

"Its not too far to pop over the 'border' into Oxon, just 20 miles or so. Having been once before to this site (at Aston) we knew what we were coming to. The weather could have been better but the reception was great. A good lot of events were laid on & enjoyed by all. Children's play area, room for football & cricket."
"Pity about the weather! The venue was lovely. The stewards and committee made us welcome. Lots to do. Entertainment was good as there was something for everyone. Children's play area was perfect. Nothing negative and would be more than happy to rally with this D.A. again."
